Sarah Arsenault

Artist member since 2020
Georgetown, Ontario

Sarah is a figurative abstract painter who explores human ecology. She is interested in her engagements with the social, built and natural environments that she experiences and the connectivity that exists between those relationships. Sarah creates fictional worlds that oscillate between representation and abstraction. Using photographs, plein-air studies, found objects, organic material and memories she constructs unworldly environments that seem familiar. Her work is heavily grounded in her concern for the natural environment and informed by contemporary landscape painting. Through imagined environments based on reality Sarah explores the world we live in and how human behaviour has shaped it. Her work reflects on what her role in all of that is, or could be.
